"No Day But Today"
(any RENT heads out there??)
Obviously, our main mission is to rescue cats that need a helping hand. Every neighborhood on Long Island has stray cats. Fortunately, there are many good people out there feeding them and providing shelter. However, this is no life for these cats. We find loving homes for as many of them as we can.
Needless to say, outdoor cats have a rough life. Bad weather, other animals, cars, no access to food, and evil humans cause them to always struggle. We often take in injured, sick and pregnant cats that would otherwise not survive being outside. We give them a chance at a happy life.
Most often, a cat simply needs some time adjusting to being loved. They've had little to no human interaction, and sometimes it's been a negative experience. We offer them a warm home, love, time and patience. Everyone must understand that it can take months for some of them to feel safe.
Education is key when taking in a rescue animal. We don't know their history - what they've been through or how they've been treated. Each rescue cat needs to be handled individually. We offer our many years of experience to help our adopters, fosters and volunteers.
Just an animal enthusiast trying to make a difference in their lives...
As a lifelong animal lover, it's no surprise running an animal rescue is my destiny. I always had dogs and they were my life. When they crossed over the rainbow bridge, I was devastated. I mean, totally heartbroken. Before they passed, I decided to adopt a cat who I named Cali. She's my first feline love and changed my life (and the lives of many cats since). Fast forward, here I am running a small cat rescue (with the occasional dog).
What I'm all about (besides animal rescue)...
Rags to Riches Animal Rescue is a trusted name for helping local stray cats. We have been on a mission since 2018. The sad fact is that too cats are living outside, so we decided that we had to try to help as many local cats as we could.
Our mission is to improve the lives of stray, abused, and neglected cats. Every being has the right to food, shelter and love. The life of an animal isn't less important and should't be undervalued. Those who love animals are better off, as animals provide unconditional love without being selfish.
In the upcoming years we want to see fewer stray cats in dire straits. We want more people to do something about this seemingly never ending issue. Each rescue deserves loving adopters, even the older ones or those with some health issues. We CANNOT do this without YOUR help.
Anyone that we work with will see how dedicated we are to these cats. We take action and try our best to help when we can. In rescue, we're often very overwhelmed, but we put 110% into each rescue cat. Let's all work together to bring humanity back and treat all living creatures equally.
